South Korea

The Han River flows through the center of Seoul and into the Yellow Sea, and has been the lifeblood of Korean civilization for millennia — today its banks in Seoul are parkland used by millions of residents.
- The DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) separating North and South Korea, though created as a war buffer, has accidentally become one of Asia's richest wildlife habitats — decades of zero human activity have allowed bears, lynx, and rare cranes to return.
- Jeju Island, South Korea's largest island, was formed by volcanic eruptions and contains Hallasan — a shield volcano and South Korea's highest peak at 1,950 meters — with a crater lake at the top.
